History and Origin of Return Timers

Return Timers were introduced in 2026 to address the gap between temporary absence and visible return timing in physical service environments.

The gap

Many modern systems provide live timing for transport arrivals, deliveries, and online service availability. In contrast, temporary absence at physical service counters has traditionally been communicated with static “Back Soon” signage.

Formalising the category

The term “Return Timer” was introduced to define a clear category. A Return Timer is not just a sign. It is a commitment to return time, expressed visibly and measurably.
